Thanks! It really is an eerie coincidence; going by airdates ("Passion": 24 Feb 1998, "A Hole in the World": 25 feb 2004) Fred dies almost exactly on the anniversary of Jenny's death. I don't think it's at all surprising if Giles is a bit out of sorts.
