First, I want to thank everyone who participated in filling out the idea survey. We got some really amazing feedback from that and people were really great about sharing their ideas. A lot ideas given in the comments, Sarah and I already had so it was great to see that echoed. And for the theme/prompt ideas, a couple of them we already had planned so we will have some happy comm members. As this community continues to grow, we will have to change and adapt, evolve if you will, to meet the needs of the group.
As such, there are some changes that all participants need to be aware of. (And yes, rules will be changed to reflect this starting on Friday). We've lowered submissions, added a new category, just basically overhauled it. So please, read it. This changes will take effect with the first prompt of August, prompt 025. I will be announcing the theme for the month on August 1st.
The biggest new rule is that we are lowering submissions to 5. Because we have SO many participants each week, people are having trouble getting through everything. And honestly, it is becoming insane for me to make a table, poll, and do calculations for 50 icons a week. So that means 5 icons, 5 fanarts, and 5 fics.
However, because we have people who like to write longer fics, fics will now be divided into two categories for submissions.
1. You can submit up to THREE fics of a max of 500 words, a minimum of 100 words (Make sure to use the drabble tag for true drabbles and the ficlet tag for all else, even 101 words). "Five Things" fics will count as ONE submission of 500 words. Ficlet category will be all submissions 100-500 words.
2. You can submit up to TWO fics of a max of 2000 words, minimum of 501 words. (Make sure to use the fic tag). Fic category will be all submissions 501-2000 words.
You can't substitute. No putting in four 2000 words fics and no smaller ficlets. This is the max for each category to give people time to read each submission. Drabbles/ficlets and fics will be judged as two different categories with two sets of winners. SO IT IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT YOU USE THE CORRECT WORD COUNT!
Anything over the first five submissions in any category, will not be counted towards voting. It is up to participants to keep track of how many they have in each category.
We also have some new communities to announce!
Everyone seemed really for the Grrr Santa idea so I went ahead and created the community. Info is on there and we will be doing signups in November: http://community.livejournal.com/grrr_santa/
We also are going to do two different comms for writing and icon making. These will operate slightly different than your average LIMS or LAS competition. The rules are already up and once we get a good number of people, I will issue the first challenges for each.

I will making pretty layouts in the next few days for those comms and will do an announcement when we are ready to get started. I hope we get a lot of participation there, as much as we have had here. :)
And we have some new mods/tag mistresses
Divadea will be helping out with tags for right now. That means that her stuff IS still up for voting because she won't be involved with the community process outside of tagging.
Lauratd and darkersideofme7 are going to be helping out as mods now. So if they ask you change formatting or something, please listen to them or again, not up for voting. They will be voting on mod's choice as well. And, because Sarah and I believe very very strongly in this, their stuff won't be up for voting and they won't be voting.
These changes, like all of them, will start with the first prompt of August so Laura's stuff will still up for the Free for All voting.
Lastly, the time change.
The prompt will now end Thursdays at 8pm PST. The voting will go up shortly after. And the new prompt should be up between 9-10pm PST barring my DSL or power going out. That means voting will end on Tuesday at 8pm PST but banners will still be put up on Wednesday. I need time to gather screencaps/make the banners/etc.
We all hope that this will help the community to run a whole lot smoother. We are constantly growing and changing so we are trying to adapt. We hope everyone understands. Again, all these changes will go into effect with prompt 025. As always, if something is unclear (I tend to ramble) please comment and I will do my best to clarify. Also, if I answer a question, please don't delete your comments later. A lot of people have the same questions and it can be very very helpful to see what people asked with the answers. Thanks in advance.
