We the moderators in order to form a more perfect community, establish ground rules and ensure our own tranquility...
So anyways we've been talking and we have noticed that a lot of people seem to be unclear on the rules or the guidelines for the prompts and part of that is because we've been letting a lot of stuff slide. Well no more. We decided that Big Bad October is the perfect time to get serious about the
rules. If you are unsure of the rules, you can click on the link I just provided and read them. You can also find a link to the rules in every prompt posted. You can also click on the User Info link on the right hand side of the page and then click on the rules link from there.
In the rules you will find rules of course, but also the headers for fics and fanart. All you have to do is copy and past these into your entries and then fill in the blanks. We highly suggest this because then you don't have to remember all the bits of info you are supposed to include in the header.
We will be putting all posts, even for long time members, through a moderation filter before they show up in the comm. This means there will be a delay from the time you submit your entry until it shows up. Between the three of us, we are online way too much so it should never be too long a wait if you have followed the rules and the prompt. If your entry has the wrong header or doesn't have an lj cut or doesn't follow the prompt for the week, you entry will not be approved until you fix whatever needs fixing.
As far as following the prompt goes, we put a lot of though into the themes and prompts and a big part of the process is trying to keep the comm interesting by having a lot of variety in the prompts for example September was about the good guys and gals, the sidekicks and our intent was that the stories would be about the sidekicks being sidekicks and in fact this was stated in the prompts, but we think a lot of people just glanced at the names of the characters because we got a lot of shipping and sidekicks gone bad and stuff that really wasn't sidekicky. October will be Big Bad month so the entries need to be about evil characters doing evil things. So a story about the Master falling madly in love with Buffy and deciding to open up an animal shelter would not be approved by the mod squad. This may mean you have to work outside of your comfort zone. Frankly we hope it does mean that at least some of the time. If we all just did our OTPs or favorite scenarios all the time, we would never grow as writers and artists and this comm would be really dull.
So we hope you understand that we are doing this not to be mean (though that's an added bonus), but to make the comm a more lively and interesting place and to help us all hug and cry and learn and grow.
