Prompt: 031- Tara
Characters: Tara, Warren, Amy, Dawn, Xander, Buffy, Willow
A/N: Set in S8, not as angsty as I wanted it to be though it does set up for future angst, but I did kinda want to get the ".!.. you, Scott Allie" across. This could very well be several months late for BOYD month but I think it shows her in a heroic light...
“It’s perfect.” Warren said, a grin in his voice as he circled Amy’s masterpiece.
“Think of it as a present,” Amy all but purred as she took her boyfriend’s skinless hands in her own, squeezing them tightly.
Something about the air that night was positively intoxicating, whether it was the anticipation of things to come or the act itself of his magic meeting her science to create new life.
She pulled him towards her, clearing his mind, albeit momentarily from the plan with a scorching kiss. But it didn’t last- this was so much bigger.
“The perfect revenge.” She assured.

Willow gazed out over the wooded mountain valley, “You have a really great view up here, Dawnie.”
“You know that’s really irritating right?” Dawn groaned casting a glance to the witch perched happily upon her shoulder. “You can float, you know.”
“But you’re so comfy,” Willow protested, snuggling into her spot.
Dawn rolled her eyes. “Well I could flick you off like a bug.”
“No problem,” Willow replied. “I can float.”
“And we’re back to my point.” Dawn sighed. “Great, I’m demoted to Willow’s chair.”
“But a big, comfy chair! It’s an honor you should be…” her voice trailed off as she saw it. Well saw wasn’t the right word, because from her height all she might have seen was a glimmer of white beneath the canopy of the trees, light accenting the brightness.
No she felt it, like a magnet pulling her forward. In a blur of green she was off, floating down towards the woods and when her feet hit the ground, she was sprinting, moving mechanically and unrelenting to the figure in the woods.
Closer. Closer. “Tara…” the redhead whispered.
No. It wasn’t. This was cold. Dead. Before she could flee, light flashed and the forest was-

“Gone!?” Dawn bellowed. “She can’t be gone! She was there one minute and the next…”
“The psychics can’t get a read on her in this or any other dimension for that matter.” Xander said, spitting out bitter words of bitter news, “She’s been effectively erased.” He let out a hiss of pain as his fist connected with the wall.
That set off the giant waterworks.
“Dawn, calm down. You’re gonna start a flood.” Buffy said, patting her younger sister’s pinky finger. “Can’t have that now.” She turned back to Xander, “This stinks of Warren and Amy. We gotta find them.”

The darkness seemed everlasting, but before long voices began to break through the fog. “I think she’s waking up.” A voice, distinctly female.
“Good. It wouldn’t be fun if she didn’t.” a second, male.
Eyes fluttered open to see the face of one Amy Madison at eye level. “Hey, long time no see.” She smirked.
Not long enough… the words were there, but Willow couldn’t seem to make her lips move.
“Oh, don’t bother, you’re in no shape to retaliate. See, we’re gonna kill you.” Amy said as she stood up, towering over the redhead. “But see… you’ve got all that magic in you, and it’d be a shame to let it go to waste. That’s why my baby rigged up that nifty little machine you’re attached to.”
“Sorry,” Warren said. “I didn’t get too long to actually build it, only a prototype, so it’s gonna take a little while. But don’t worry- we have some entertainment to make the time pass.”
It was then that her eyes fell upon it, the white clad figure in the woods, full lips, long blonde hair, and empty eyes.
“It’s amazing what you can find buried under several million tons of Southern California.”

“This is not meant to be. A horrid cosmic mistake.”
“But what can I do about it? I can’t be returned to my body. Not while it’s being manipulated by those people. Not while it’s… a puppet.”
“We can give you temporary form. Enough time to stop this travesty. The Witch must not die. Her presence is crucial to Buffy Summers and her cohorts… together they are champions, separated they flounder. It is up to you to reunite them. Can you do this?”
“I will not let Willow die. You can trust me… but how will you send me back?”

The blood seeped through. “Your shirt.” And slowly the puppet body hit the ground. With a flick of the wrist, the scene rewound. Amy grinned relishing in the new power, the green energy flowing from Willow to her, and for added effect she tossed in the TiVo sound.
“I love this scene. Don’t you?”
Every ounce of energy poured into the word- “Bitch.”
“Hey, there.” Warren scolded, his meaty hand holding Willow’s face, forcing her to look him in the eyes, but before he could speak again a blue light struck him throwing him back.
“Nobody messes with my girl.”

Willow glanced up, the figure of Amy Madison encompassed by a bright blue light. A flick of the fingers and another bright blue light sped towards Warren, pinning him to the wall, unconscious.
It wasn’t long before the blue light began to flicker and fade.
“GET OUT OF MY BODY!” Amy hissed, and with a feral scream two bright lights shot from her body, a green one towards the redhead witch, and a blue light to the puppet body. Amy sunk to the floor.
“Hey Amy.” Chains clicked, unlocking. Amy glanced at the redhead now towering over her. “Loser weepers.”

It was a gentle whimper at first. As though the pain was forcing its way through despite having no strength to produce the sound. Two pairs of eyes followed the sound to Tara’s body which lay quivering. Silent tears flowed freely down the pale cheeks.
“Tara… baby…” Willow questioned, voice soft, step tentative.
“She’s in pain.” Amy smirked around her words, despite her weakened state… “That body was never meant to have a soul in it.”
“Uh huh… Amy. Shut up.” With a flick of Willow’s fingers, the bitch witch was suddenly in the silent, wall-bound condition of her boyfriend.

Willow closed the door behind her as she stepped into the hallway where Buffy stood, arms folded across her stomach, looking rather queasy herself.
“I’m just… getting her some tea.” Willow said, eyes focused on the floor.
Buffy shifted her weight from foot to foot. “How is she?”
“I think… the pain is… not as bad… she’s healing, but it’s going to take a while…” Willow swallowed hard. “She’s… I don’t know… I don’t know what to do, I mean… all these years and… ” Tears threatened to flow at any moment. “Do you think you can talk to her?”
+++
“It’s not natural.” Tara said, propped up in bed, and buried in a pile of blankets. “I was only supposed to help Willow and go back. I wasn’t supposed to get stuck back in my body. I’m not supposed to be here.”
“Well a lot of us are glad you are.” Buffy said with a smile. “Otherwise we’d have a dead Willow on our hands, and dead Willows, not so much fun.”
“There’ll be repercussions.” Tara reminded.
Buffy gave Tara’s hand a light squeeze. “Then you just focus on getting strong again so you can help face them.”
Tara nodded.

Willow set the empty mug on the nightstand when Tara had finished drinking, and she lowered herself to lie next to the blonde.
“I love you, you know?” the redhead whispered as she planted a gentle kiss on her forehead. “I never stopped.”
The blonde closed her eyes, “I know…” she smiled. “I’ve watched you the whole time.”
Willow drew back. “The… whole time? Everything. Even the…”
“Everything…” Tara whispered.
“I… um… I should…” she started from the bed, but found a weak hand grasping at her wrist.
“Later… but now… just kiss me again. On the lips this time.”
“Think of it as a present,” Amy all but purred as she took her boyfriend’s skinless hands in her own, squeezing them tightly.
