Word Count: 245
Prompt: 059
Characters: Spike
Notes: During "The Girl in Question". ETA: Someone has rightly pointed out to me that Spike got on a plane in "A Hole in the World". So let's make this AR.
Spike Takes Off
He'll admit to himself that sometimes he doesn't think things through. Like hearing His Corporate Giantship was rushing off to rescue Buffy and step down hard on the Immortal, he naturally piped up to say he was coming, too.
Now in the hanger, waiting for the jet to be readied, Spike's lips are pressed in a thin line as he considers the situation. He's never been in a plane. He's been around longer than they have. Seen when they started as a collection of bits and pieces. They were crates of wire and canvas and insanity. And, of course, it was daytime thing.
Even when the silly buggers started flying at night, Spike wanted no part of it. What, suspended mid-air, with only a coughing motor between you and very hard surface. No thanks, mate.
It was one thing to be on a nice, plush carpet, standing in the sunshine coming through special windows, but to be wrapped in (it looked like to him) tarted-up tin foil and be slingshotted out into the sky was another. Spike glanced over at Angel who was talking to the pilot. Probably telling him how to fly, he thought. The big lump loves this. Vampire jet-setter.
"Okay, we're ready," Angel says.
"Is there booze aboard?"
Angel makes a face and says, "Sure."
Spike says, "Okay, then." He gestures to Angel, "Age before beauty." And following behind Angel's broad back, Spike squares his own shoulders and walks onto the plane.
