A/N: Set during Season Three's "Band Candy," with a little twist...
What she didn’t count on was seeing her mother sitting in the living room, crooning to sixties music and glamorizing herself with outrageous makeup and lots of hair products. Upon seeing Willow, she jumped to her feet, immediately looking worried.
"Mom? What are you doing?" Willow asked carefully.
"I--I was--I was just--having a little fun--" Her mother stammered, her eyes darting from one side of the room to the other. Turning off the music, and grabbing some nearby tissues, she started a frantic attempt at rubbing the makeup off her skin. "I know I shouldn’t wear so much makeup or sing so loud, but--no one wants to date me and all the boys laugh at me cause they think I’m ugly! It doesn’t matter how smart I am, they don’t care about that!" Sheila’s speech grew faster and faster, the words running together as the tears started to run down her face. The mascara she’d recently put on started to smear and streak, giving her a garish look.
"Oh, great," Willow sighed. Deciding the best thing to do would be to wait the candy induced spell out, she went over to her mother and gave her an awkward hug. "It’s okay."
"And what kind of name is Sheila, anyway?" Her mother asked emphatically. "How dare Mom and Dad name me that! When I have kids I’m gonna name them something normal!"
"Sure you will," Willow calmly replied. Something occurred to her then. "Wait a minute! I already sold all my chocolate for the fund raiser!" So why is my mother acting like she’s in her teens?
"I didn’t have any chocolate, it makes me break out, remember?" Her mother replied, rolling her eyes.
"Okay, then this has entered the planet of weird," Willow muttered.
"But I did buy some vanilla cupcakes from the store that were very delicious. You want some?" Her mother asked.
"No!" Willow exclaimed. "Those are going in the trash, right now," she muttered.
