I enjoyed each of these and the arc you created through them. With very few words you gave us a snapshot of Angel's long, lonely stretch. Spike and Buffy were rewarded with a life together, and Angel is filled with a keen awareness that Spike's led a full life. Now Angel is suffering just one more loss, and he'll be losing Spike, too. Angel is melancholy, but it feels more like self awareness than self pity.
This was a wonderful turn of phrase: The living Liam is so distant, such a mirage. This, too: Isn’t that life?
