We all hope and pray to find that one girl that is the other half of our souls. Well, I found her. I found my other half. But because of pride and immense stupidity here I stand pushing her away. And I don’t mean to.
I want to take her in my arms, tell her I’m sorry. I can’t. Jealousy constricts my throat and won’t let me say anything. If only I could be sure that it was me she really loved. She says that she’s given me her body and soul. But I don’t buy it. A wall is between us. And his name is Angel. I feel his presence every day. Each time I take her in my arms he’s there.
An ultimatum passes my lips before I can stop it. It’s a lousy thing to do to someone you love but I’m desperate. I can’t spend the rest of my life wondering who comes first in her life. I need it to be me. I want her to tell me she loves me, that Angel was her past, but now I’m her future. I want her to tell me that she doesn’t love Angel anymore and his hold over her is gone. And I’d believe her. I would have to. I love her and I want to stay. If only she’d lie to me.
Please, let her lie to me.-

The persistent ringing of the alarm clock awakened Giles. He groaned loudly and slammed his hand down on the button to shut it off. He didn’t know why he even bothered to set the bloody thing. It wasn’t as if he had anywhere to go. Or a job that needed doing.
He wasn’t a librarian or a watcher anymore. As a matter of fact he wasn’t sure what he was. All he knew was that he felt utterly useless. A state of being he was quite familiar with. After all neither profession was exactly full of excitement. Hell, the boy Xander had seen more field time then he had. It seemed it would always be his destiny to be on the outside of life looking in.
With a long heartfelt sigh, Giles managed to pull himself out of bed and head towards the shower. After all one must be clean for another fun filled day of do-nothing. -
