This is unbelievably beautiful. A really great idea, executed superbly. I liked its restraint and the way you didn't go for the easy, saccharine moment. It's not at all derivative, but the heroine sounds someone in the vein of Anne Shirley or Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. A believable heroine, overcoming much to be awesome. Beautiful!
