I like how that first scene dovetails into canon so neatly and this line gave me a big grin: She really was a witch. Maybe not a smart one, seeing as she had done this spell on her bed, but still. Not very clever, but still.
Buffy flashing back to the trauma of being dead makes perfect sense, and it rings true because this is something that she struggles with through canon. How can you not shut down emotionally when faced with so much trauma?
