She comes to him in dead (ho ho) of night. No one must know, else he knows too well she'll never come back.
Mostly, she leaves in the dark too. Sometimes she wakes him, ravenous and needing more distraction from her everyday life before she goes. Often she'll escape before he wakes and he loses the chance to enjoy having her beside him in sleep, relaxed and hating neither him nor herself. A rare luxury for her, these days.
Just occasionally, though, she comes to him after a long shift or a bad day with Dawn, and even the Slayer senses aren't enough to keep her awake long enough to flee. She sleeps in and doesn't stir even when he starts to surface before sunrise, determined to experience her to the full. Some days, he'll wake her and have her one last time for the night – though he knows she'll scarper straight after, and he hates that. So just once or twice, he lets her have her rest, and slips out to find her some breakfast.
He wakes her with a double mochalatte, just like she loves. It's not coffee as he knows it, but he's willing to make bigger sacrifices for her than this.
