Title: What's A Girl Like You Doing in a Place Like This?
Author: BakaTulip
Words: 251
Prompt: 016
Characters: Tara, Doyle, Wash
Rating: PG
A/N: Just a silly little thing. I'm gonna do more later but since I feel there is going to be some uberdepressing stuff this month, I thought starting with a silly would be fun.

A young blonde woman sat on a couch under a sign which read- TValhalla, Home of Departed TV Characters. Sitting next to her, on either side, were two men. She turned to the blonde man on her left. “What happened to you?”

“I got impaled.” He said.

“Ouch.” She winced.

“Yeah, I was flying a ship at the time, but I did manage to get through a massive battle between the Alliance and the Reavers and still got everyone down on the planet safely, which is pretty shiny in my book.”

She turned to the man on her right. “What about you?”

“I died disabling a weapon that would have destroyed anything with human blood that it touched,” he said, his voice laced with a thick Irish accent. “Never really was the heroing type, but it seemed like it was the right thing to do. The real hero had to go on doing his thing. What about you?”

She heaved a sigh. “I got shot.”

“Took a bullet for a lover?” asked the blonde man.

She shook her head.

“Bar fight gotten out of hand?” asked the Irish man.

She shook her head again. “I just… got shot… " she paused, actually considering her death for the first time, "through a window… " her face settled into a frown "by a stray bullet.”

“Well… that’s…” the Irish man searched for a word, waving his hand as if beckoning it towards him. “Tragic? Unfortunate?”

“Lame?” Offered the blonde man.

“Yeah.” The woman nodded, “Pretty lame.”

I love it-A nice addtion to the great Jossverse tradition of undercutting the angst with a bit of humor

Now that you mention it, Tara's was by far one of the lamest deaths of the show. In retrospect it was pretty much a plot device so Willow could go off the deep end.

This was an absolutely inspired use of the prompt. I really loved that last line. Totally agree with everyone else. Tara's death was so lame compared to the rest. This was a great piece.

Lame? Loved that it is anti-climatic compared to the others.

Great idea
