The carpet was ruined where she’d lain in the hours before they’d even known she was dead. Her blood had soaked through to the padding underneath, so Xander ripped that up too. He scrubbed the floor with Lysol until the smell of chemical overwhelmed the smell of death. Xander opened the window to let some air in. He needed to fix that. It was his job to fix things, to save the world with talking, but he hadn’t saved Tara and nothing would fix that. Xander surveyed the room. The carpet needed replacing. He wondered what color she’d have liked.
