I pretty much play around with the layers in Photoshop till I get something that I like. There are some tutorial sites for Photoshop that I love that can help get you started... I f you are interested. The site is called pslover.com and it goes from begginer to more advanced techniques.

I think that there are a bunch of lj comm that offer tutorials too.
