Title: Can We ... Can You ...
Author: ubiquirk
Rating: G
Word Count: 2x100
Prompt: 23 Haunted
Character: Willow
“Can we just skip it?”
I wake muddle headed with her voice echoing in my mind and her name on my lips. “Ta–” I stop myself in time.
Just as I stop myself from reaching for the shape I see resting beside me on its pillow, from tangling my fingers in the too-dark hair.
I stare at the ceiling for hours, watching the occasional play of lights chase each other from side to side as cars go by on this mostly deserted side road.
The room feels stiflingly hot, the night strangely silent for a bustling city like Rio.
~~~
My eyes don’t shut again until I feel the shifting of the bed beside me, and then it’s only to feign sleep.
There’s an early meeting with a local ‘friendly’ demon we’ve been paying for information. There won’t be time to touch me, to expect me to respond.
Upon the click of the bathroom door closing, I roll over onto my side, clutching pillow to chest, and allow my eyes to fall naturally closed.
The hissing of the shower fades as my consciousness merges with dreamscape.
She’s before me again, my golden goddess.
“Can you just be kissing me now?”
AN: First and last lines taken from “Entropy,” written by Drew Z. Greenberg.
Set after "Chosen." I wrote this in May because I was worried that Joss would completely canon-shaft the idea that Willow isn't happy with Kennedy in the comics.
Date: 2007-07-26 06:54 am (UTC)I really don't see Willow ever being happy with Kennedy; she's just not her type. Tara and Oz were both gentle, caring, compassionate souls--Kennedy is...not.
