The vampire looked like any other human until he pressed the cross into its flesh. Then its fangs descended and its eyes flashed gold as it smoked, screaming and thrashing against the restraints. Dr. Angleman made a note as he examined the cross-shaped burn. “Let’s proceed with the holy water,” he instructed the technician.

The vampire stared at them as they prepped the hypodermic. “No, please,” it whimpered. It looked human again. “Why are you doing this?” Dr. Angleman didn’t answer as he administered the injection. He watched the vampire writhe, scream and turn to dust. He made a note.

Ghaaa. I like that you had the vampire try to talk to him - I always like it when it's acknowledged that vampires are sentient and, well, sort of ordinary people really. Except, well, soulless and evil. Well done.

Thanks. I thought bringing in the ordinary human-ness of the vampire sort of highlighted how disturbing it was that Angleman could torture him without caring. Sort of as a who's the real monster deal.
