A/N: Set post-Chosen

“Dad!” She calls out, rushing across the street towards the fast receding back.  She calls again, not sure he hears. She’s about to call a third time when finally he turns, his gaze looking through her.

“I’m sorry.” He says. “Do I know you?”

“Sorry.” She apologizes. “I thought you were somebody else.” She blinks back a tear and swallows the lump of hope caught in her throat.

Of course he wouldn’t remember. She never really saw this man before today. Why would the monks give memories to a man who was never part of her life to begin with?
