Prompt 054, Crack Fic
Characters/Pairings Mal, Simon, River/Serenity
A/n A first attempt, thought it would be fun to play in your sand box. Thanks to
ubiquirk for convincing me this was a good idea.
Mal could hear shouting. Arguments in his kitchen were never good, especially when one of the arguers were perfectly capable of efficiently taking apart bodies, employing surgical precision with any sharp edge that came to hand. Come to think of it, Simon weren’t bad at the cuttin’ neither…
He rounded the corner and stopped short. The resident siblings were discussing their dominance issues, with a side of River’s emerging libido.
“It’s just wrong, River. No one in the ‘verse will allow this kind of thing. I think Captain Reynolds will have something to say about it too. There is no way he’s going to let you run off with such a…” He stopped short, and Mal tried to figure how bad it could be if Simon weren’t knowing just how to describe River’s latest foray into insanity.
“A vital member of his crew, yes, I know. But he, and the rest of you, would have to accept the facts. After we marry, I would not expect my wife to put herself in constant peril. She would be home. Tending the offspring.”
Mal could hear the finality in Rivers voice. OK, “wife” narrowed it down, but somehow made it all the less likely this was the coherent half of River speaking. Still, a nagging doubt pulled at Mal. Could River really have convinced Kaylee or Inara to marry her and leave Serenity for good?
“Really, Simon. I cannot merely remain your sister forever. I must be allowed free reign of my emotions. We will be wed, and you may attend the ceremony. She and I are already one. A ring and pretty words will just make it all official.”
Sweating slightly at the thought of loosing more crew than he cared to, Mal prepared to round the corner, putting a stop to this nonsense. All he could do was stop and laugh as he heard Simon say:
“River, for the last time, despite what you told Early. You. Are. Not. Serenity!”

Thank you for saying nice things, I'm really glad you liked my Mal. Dialect is really difficult... He gave me headaches, I kept wanting to correct him!

And thank you for saying such nice things about my Mal. You are so right, some of the stuff I tried sounded like Cletus the Slack-jawed Yokel... That would never have done!
