Prompt 55 - Love

A/N: Something I wrote a bit ago that I thought would work nicely here. As we all know, love can be shown in all different kinds of ways.

“Nothing Spike, ” Angel said. “Nothing.”
“Who died and made you my bloody boss?” Spike demanded.
Angel looked at him and shook his head.
“Did you forget you have a soul now? I don’t care if she’s back in town. You know what kind of birthday presents she likes, Spike. Puppies and virgins. Not something I’m going to let you give her.” Angel sat back down behind his desk. “Especially the puppies,” he mumbled. “I think you should just stay away from her, period.”
Spike slammed his fist on Angel’s desk. “It’s Dru, Angel. She’s family, not like we can forget her birthday… I can’t forget her birthday. Ever.”
“Exactly, it’s Dru. Last time I checked she was still evil.”
“She’ll listen to me. I’ll find her a present that doesn’t involve puppies or virgins and then make sure she goes on her way.”
“Fine!” Angel said, standing up, nose to nose with him. “You find her something that doesn’t involve killing anything and then tell her to leave.” His glare settled on Spike. “If she does anything, and I mean anything while she’s here I will personally stake her. Got it?”
He rolled his eyes. “Yeah. Got it.”

It didn’t take Spike long to find her. Drusilla being his sire and all. Somewhere in the back of his mind he was happy to see her. It had been a bit. She was dancing by moonlight, in a cemetery, just outside L.A.
“Oooh, Spike, its my birthday. The stars are singing to me. Can you hear them?”
After moving toward her slowly he said, “They only sing to you, love.”
“Why is that? Is there something wrong with me?”
The dancing stopped, and her lips formed into a pout. It was his Dru. The last thing he wanted to do was upset her. An upset Dru could be more than one souled vampire could handle.
“Because you’re special, pet. That’s why the stars sing to you and only you.”
She smiled and seemed to float over to where he stood. “Did you bring mummy a present? It’s my birthday you know.”
“That’s why I’m here, Dru. To bring you a present.”
Clapping, she said, “I love presents. What did you bring, Spike? Tell mummy what you brought her.”
He reached into his pocket, brought out a little box, and handed it to her. “Wanted to get you something to show you how special you are.”
Drusilla, like an eager child, grabbed the box out of his hand and opened it, her wide-eyed expression being one of surprise and not anger.
“Blood red, sparkling crimson by starlight.”
She pushed the two karat ruby ring onto her finger, dropping the box in the process. The moon making her shine as she began to twirl. The cemetery once again her private stage.
“My Spike, beaming with a soul like daddy, didn’t forget mummy on her birthday. So mummy will be good, and leave her shining Spike...” She stopped talking and looked beyond him, a wide smile appearing on her face. “…with her shining daddy.”
Spike followed Drusilla’s gaze and saw Angel, arms crossed, leaning against a tree. Their eyes met, Angel acknowledged Spike with a small nod, and then walked away.
When Spike turned back around, she was gone.
