It’s raining, it’s pouring,
The old man is snoring

Sing-song sing-song in Drusilla’s head. Why is she singing? Because she’s happy. Why is she happy? Because she’s not scared any more. So many weeks of fear and hiding and loss and death and there won’t be any more of that thank you.

Why not, Drusilla? Why ever not?

It’s raining, it’s sleeting,
The old man is bleeding

Why is he bleeding? Because…because someone is eating him.

That someone is you, Drusilla.

“No. That’s not true. I’m a good girl.”

It’s raining, it’s pouring,
The old man is … dead.
He went to bed to mend his head
And couldn’t get up in the morning.

Nor never will again, Drusilla.

“Why are you talking to me? “

Because I’m you, your own self. And you’re going to come with me into the darkness.

“But I’m a good girl. I want to be good. I want… I wanted….”

Not any more, Drusilla. Because you killed the old man.

Bye bye, good girl.
