Word Count: 234
Prompt: 135(the body)
Characters/Pairing: Xander
As part of the scoobies I’ve seen a lot of death and destruction. Working in the supernatural field tends to lend itself towards a lot of demons dying. But it’s mostly been vampires and they so don’t count.
This time it's different. It hit home.
Joyce is dead.
Standing inside the dorm room, I watch as everyone is trying their best just to function and make it through the day.
Willow is crying.
Tara is trying to comfort Willow.
Anya is asking questions that no one quite really knows how to answer or even wants to.
And I'm trying to be the strong one. The one they all can lean on. Good ol' dependable Xander. But inside it's tearing me apart. Joyce had always been a central part in my life since I met Buffy. She was always there with the beverage and chips. And she was quite handy with an axe. There was even that one time that I had a dream that Buffy's mom and I...but now's not the time.
I want to be there for Buffy. But how am I supposed to help her now? Buffy’s world is falling apart and I can’t do anything to stop it.
Suddenly, I slam my fist into the wall. The physical pain helps bring my emotional pain under control.
There is no question of how.
I have to help Buffy. It’s what I do.-
