Title Madame Guillotine Awaits
Author Brutti ma Buoni
Rating PG
Word Count 100
Prompt 155 Literature Free For All (Charles Dickens – A Tale of Two Cities)
Characters/Pairing (if any) Spike, Glory
Sometimes, a vampire’s got to ask if he’s really living the evil dream.
Like when a hellgod is crawling on his chest, peeling him alive. Relishing the unstoppable screams. Pushing it to extremes, maybe even till she sees dust.
(Why is the vampire doing this? For a fake brat and a Slayer who’d stake him in seconds if she felt the urge.)
Why doesn’t he give the god what she wants?
*
No. He’s come this far.
And like the bloke said, in a similar situation, it’s a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done.

Date: 2010-02-24 05:02 pm (UTC)I can't count how many bonus points you get for my favourite literary AND movie quote being used at the end there! I stiil get a lump in my throat when I watch the Ronald Colman version of A Tale of Two Cities (I did cry when I saw it for the first time), and only partly because I fancies dear 'ol Ron somethin' rotten I does :-)
I can't believe that I've never seen the so-obvious-now-connections between Spike & Sydney Carton!
What a gem! Thanks so much for writing it. On a more toned-down Buffyverse-related note, I don't think Spike would've understood for a second exactly why he was doing what he did, if I didn't already know that Spike's devotion to the women in his life, whether it be Dru, Buffy, Joyce OR Dawn was second to none.
It's difficult to know WHICH of the Summers women he was keeping a promise to at the end of the season, whatever he said to Buffy.
Still under Willow & Tara's spell,#
Ray.
