Prompt 160: Fiction
Title: The Best Film Ever Made?
Author:
angelus2hot
Rating: PG
Word Count: 349
Prompt:: 160(Gone With The Wind 1939)
Characters/Pairing: Buffy, Willow, Xander
A/N:: I couldn't resist. And I'm not sure if it's because it's one of my favorite books ever or if I'm just a major suck up :)
Xander walked into the room just as Buffy and Willow began to discuss the merits of the movie they had just finished watching.
Willow leaned back against the couch and sighed happily as Buffy shut off the television. "Gone with the Wind has to be one of the best films ever made."
"I agree and did you see Rhett Butler? For a fictional character he really is quite the hottie. No wonder Mom likes Clark Gable. Yum!" Buffy wiggled her eyebrows and grinned at her best friend.
Willow shook her head sadly at Buffy. "You were supposed to say 'What about all the stuff that was left out'."
Buffy's mouth opened into a perfect O shape. "I thought this was an 'agree with me' talk."
"No, this was a 'the book versus the movie' talk."
"Oh." Buffy shrugged her shoulders. "Sorry, Will."
Xander couldn’t keep quiet any longer. "Personally, I thought they both sucked." Xander bit into his sandwich as he waited for the explosion.
Both girls jumped up off the couch and cried, "Xander! How can you say that?"
"Oh please. 'Frankly, My Dear, I don't give a damn?' What kind of man says that? If I tried saying that to Anya she would skin me alive. Or something equally as gruesome"
Willow glanced over at Buffy as she nodded her head in agreement. "Yes, but you're the one with the girlfriend who's an ex-demon. Rhett Butler would never have fallen for one of those."
At the unnatural gleam in their eyes Xander realized that he had gone and gotten himself involved in the wrong conversation. He quickly began trying to extricate himself. "You're right. Rhett Butler is great, he is good and I will never be like him. I bow before his awesomeness"
Buffy and Willow flopped back onto the couch and crossed their legs beneath them. "That's what we were saying. Geesh! Was that so hard?"
Xander stared at both girls for a full two minutes without saying a word before he turned to walk away. Peals of laughter followed him as he left the room.
