She had thought the attic was the perfect hiding place. Surely, her father wouldn't be able to find her there. But she had been wrong. Footsteps on the stairs echoed through the small room. Her heart beat rapidly in her chest. He was coming! Her eyes darted around the room looking for a place to hide. There was none.
Her mind was chaotic as his face finally came into view. The walls shook from the force of her thoughts. If only she had the power to remove him. To make him leave her alone. As he walked into the room she wished she had somewhere else to go. Anywhere but where she was. As he held out his hand, she knew it was any empty wish. There was nowhere for her to run, nowhere to hide. There never would be.
